Adoption: One persons reject is three people's joy
After talking to my doctor about a month ago, I have given a lot of thought to the idea of having children. I have a condition called
polycystic ovarian syndrome, which usually causes hairyness, obesity, and infertility, but in my case i lose weight and hair. They are trying to find out why i have it, but until then...im'm just weird. Although I am physically able to have children it would be horrid trying and mean months of bed rest ...Not my thing, so I have been looking into what it would take to adopt a child.
After searching a little I realized how hard it is in the us to locate a child young enough not to have vivid memories of their parents. It's not that I want the children to never know anything about their parents, I believe in letting an adopted child know properly through out their life that you aren't their biological parent, if you don't they will resent you later....But I would rather have an orphaned infant who I can tell that it had a mommy and daddy who loved them but aren't there, then have to watch a child self destruct because they miss their parents or were abandoned and lost. These children need homes too, and if it was the right child I might, but while I'm just looking at my options, I'm being picky.
So after all of this, I started looking into adopting children in Russia....And my heart melted. Especially when it comes to the "50% off" children. If the child you want to adopt has any type of handicap or physical issue(missing a toe, large birthmark anywhere, crooked nose) you receive a discount of sorts because these children are considered "unacceptable" by most people there, and many here. I have actually heard stories about people there abandoning their children after they are born or refusing them because their child wasn't the gender they wanted or they were "too ugly". Sometimes the "ugly" kid in the corner grows up to be a super model or owner of the most successful company in the world. You never know what a child will be.
The orphanages there also have more infants to adopt out because not many people there adopt children and they don't have the facilities to properly house infants for an extended amount of time. So this is probably what I will do, depending on whoever I marry of course, but there are always children who need a home and love, and parents who need a child to give these things to.
