    Why I will never work for Fendi or most haute couture fashion houses

    Why you ask? Because they use fur. As many of you know, I am huge on animal rights and believe the fur industry is cruel and disgusting. Don't get me wrong, I wear leather and other goods, But from animals people eat. They don't just slaughter the cows for their hide, they are turned into food and other items and not too much goes to waste. With most animals in the fur industry; such as rabbits, minks, foxes and bears, are killed through anal electrocution just for the fur and the rest of the body is disposed of. The most disgusting I found so far is the use of household pets such as dogs and cats. In this MSNBC article they explain:
    Animal rights activists estimate that 2 million cats and dogs are killed in Asia each year for their fur which is imported into Europe under false labels, saying it either fake fur or exotic Asian species, to make soft toys, blankets, coats and fur trims on hoods.
    Its sad when you have to be afraid to even buy fake fur, but I guess asia is really bad about the practices held in the fur trade as mentioned in this article about j-lo's new fashion line ;
    Phase One of the campaign launches today, when the take-no-prisoners activists will be stationed outside Virgin Records in Times Square in Manhattan. While Lopez is inside signing copies of her new album, PETA activists will be showing horrific film footage of animals being skinned alive in China — the world’s number one fur-producing country, where there’s not a single animal-protection law — edited in with images of Lopez swathed in fur from her latest video.
    most people find PETA's protest a little out of hand, and I agree they do handle things wrong, but we DO need to make people aware that these things go on.But there are far more tactful ways that we all can help raise awareness.

    Every year in school, since the 4th grade, when we were allowed to do a presentation on anything we wanted i always chose an animal rights oriented presentation just for the fact most people don't even think about it. The most memorable i ever had was in the 7th grade.we were supposed to present a persuasive speech in our speech and public speaking class, and i chose an informative presentation on animal cruelty. My teacher threw a fit saying that it was informative, not persuasive, but if i could persuade people somehow with it, he would give me a passing grade. when presentation day came, It was perfect. The guy who sat next to me was bragging about shooting some dogs, the girl next to him was wearing a rabbit fur trimmed coat. During my presentation, i told them about the fur process and about different forms of cruelty. None of my materials were as grotesque as PETA's, but just gross enough to get the point across. about halfway through, people started thinking, then the fur coats came off, then, the teacher even started thinking. By the end of it, even the dog shooter felt bad, he never admitted it, but he never shot another dog either. i only got a C bc the teacher was mad, but hey, its still passing and it had a good impact.
    If we all take every chance we are given to tactfully spread the news of our causes, especially telling others of God's greatness, Can you imagine how much we can get done? It may seem like just a bit when your doing it, but it all adds up! :)
